If you love these game ideas we have another whole firefighter party ideas article for you full of activities, entertainment, decorations food and music ideas!

Firefighter Game 1: Fireman Duties

In this fast-paced action game, the leader calls out different firefighter commands, and the children have to quickly follow the instructions. The last ones to react are out, and the game continues until the last player is left!

  • Fire Pole! – Pretend to slide down a pole.
  • Hoses ready! – Pretend to hold and spray a fire hose.
  • Fire in the village! – Run to one side of the room
  • Fire at the docks! – Run to the other side of the room.
  • Shift over! – Kids can flop to the floor exhausted after a busy day of fire rescue work!

For younger children, you can remove a few actions or reward the fastest player instead of eliminating players. For older kids feel free to add instructions, so there are more to remember and keep then on their toes!

Firefighter Game 2: Fire, Fire, Water!

This game is a firefighter-themed version of “Duck, Duck, Goose.” It’s perfect as a familiar game for kids to get immediately stuck into when they arrive or for them to join in if they are a little shy and don’t know many people.

Children sit in a circle. One child (Child A) walks around the outside of the circle, tapping the other children on the head while they call, “Fire, fire, fire…” When Child A taps someone and says “Water!”, that child (Child B) jumps up and chases Child A around the circle.

Child A hs to run all the way around and sit in Child B’s spot before getting tagged. If successful, Child B becomes the new runner. If not, Child A plays again.

Firefighter Game 3: Fire Station

This is a firefighter version of “Four Corners”! Label four corners of the room as different locations in a fireman’s day (e.g., Fire Station, Fire Truck, Water Tower, Burning Building). You can take them on a quick tour to familiarize them with the layout!

Children dance around, and when the caller shouts, “Fire Station Corners!” they must run to one of the four locations.

With their eyes closed, the caller spins around and points to one of the corners, and whoever is there is “off duty” (out of the game). Instead of sitting out, eliminated players can pretend to drive their fire truck to another corner while making siren sounds, to add a bit of theatre to the process.

The winners of the game are those children lucky enough to evade the chosen corner for each round!

Firefighter Game 4: Fireman Freeze

This game works like “Musical Statues.” Children dance/act out busy fireman duties to music. When the music stops, they must freeze in place. Super simple but also always a crowd winner!

Encourage some touch pretend fire challenges like carrying a huge water hose, getting their gear on, running to the fires, sounding the sirens and pretending to drive like a fire truck!

Typically, any kids who wobble are sent out, but for a party, you don’t have to send people out—you could also award prizes for the funniest frozen poses to keep a group-win spirit!

Firefighter Game 5: Fire Chief’s Orders

A firefighting version of “Simon Says,” where one player, the “Fire Chief,” gives commands that begin with “Fire Chief says…”

  • Fire Chief says put on your helmet! (Everyone pretends to put on a helmet.)
  • Fire Chief says spray the fire! (Everyone pretends to spray a hose.)
  • Climb the ladder! (If anyone climbs without “Fire Chief says,” they’re out!)

To make the game more fun, instead of eliminating players, send them to the “Fire Station” where they can pretend to be drivers with blue lights and sirens, driving the trucks back to the station to sit out! Then you can either have them sit out to rejoin the game.

Firefighter Game 6: Fire Hose Relay Race

A classic relay race with a firefighting twist! Relay races are a brilliant addition to any party. They add a super fun energy and touch of competitiveness that gets kids engaged and having fun with the party theme!

Divide kids into teams and have them pass a “fire hose” (a pool noodle or any piece of flexi pipe) from teammate to teammate until the whole group has completed the course! The fastest team to complete the course wins.

To make the relay races even more fun, give them a challenge for how to get from start to finish. Instead of running, have the kids crawl under “smoke” (blankets draped as tunnels), carry a bucket of “water,” or leap over “burning logs.”

Firefighter Game 7: Sleeping Firefighters

This is a perfect game to get all the kids giggling! It’s a firefighting-themed twist based on the classic game “Sleeping Lions.”

Pretend the caller is the fire chief and he has instructed all firemen to take a nap so they can get their energy up for the next shift! Set up the story that even though the chief has given a clear instruction, there are some funny noises coming from the fire station!

Children pretend to be sleeping firefighters, lying still on the floor. One child plays the Fire Chief and walks around, trying to spot any movement. If a “firefighter” moves or giggles, they’re out!

However, when the Fire Chief’s back is turned, players can quietly make funny noises like pretending to be a siren, or having a silly sneeze to confuse the Fire Chief! Kids will usually get more and more giggly as the game goes on.

This is a lovely relaxed game to calm the energy and can be used strategically for this purpose!
