Princess Game 1: Princess, Princess, Dragon!

This game is a princess version of “Duck, Duck, Goose.” It’s perfect as a familiar game for kids to get immediately stuck into when they arrive or for them to join in if they are a little shy and don’t know many people.

Children sit in a circle. One child (Child A) walks around the outside of the circle, tapping the other children on the head while saying, “Princess, princess, princess…” When Child A taps someone and says “Dragon!”, that child (Child B) jumps up and chases Child A around the circle.

Child A must run all the way around and sit in Child B’s spot before getting tagged. If successful, Child B becomes the new runner. If not, Child A plays again.

Princess Game 2: Queen’s orders

In this fast-paced action game, the leader calls out different royal commands, and the children must quickly follow the instructions. The last ones to react are out, and the game continues!

  • To the Grand Ballroom! – Run to one side of the room.
  • To the Enchanted Garden! – Run to the other side of the room.
  • Tiara’s on! – Princesses pretend to place a tiara on their heads.
  • Unicorn Ride! – Gallop in place.
  • Royal Curtsey! – Princesses do a deep curtsey to the Queen.

For younger children, you can remove a few princess actions or reward the fastest player instead of eliminating them. For older players you could add some action to make this more complicated.

Princess Game 3: Royal Ball Freeze Dance

This game works like “Musical Statues” but a very princessy version. Children dance while music plays, and when it stops, they must freeze in place. Super simple but always a crowd winner!

Encourage princess-themed dance moves while they dance, like twirling, curtseying, or pretending to wave to royal guests. Also in this version, you can play the ultimate disney princess songs for the dancing to help add to the atmosphere.

Typically, any kids to wobble are sent out, but for a party, you don’t have to send people out—you could also award prizes for the most graceful frozen poses!

Have you seen our princess treasure hunt?! This hand-illustrated, downloadable treasure hunt is a perfect addition to the princess party.

It comes with a special story that will have kids feeling like they are on a magical quest – and the excitement at piecing together the map and finding the treasure is always, unanimously, the favourite thing about the party for kids and parents alike!

Princess Game 4: The Fairy Queen’s Orders

A royal version of “Simon Says,” where one player, the “Fairy Queen,” gives commands that begin with “Fairy Queen says…”

  • Fairy Queen says touch your tiara! (Everyone must touch their tiara.)
  • Fairy Queen says jump like a fairy! (Everyone jumps.)
  • Spin like a magical spell! (If anyone spins without “Fairy Queen says,” they’re out!)

To make the game more fun, instead of eliminating players, send them on a quest to collect unicorn dust in the woods! They go to one corner of the room, but they can still participate by being part of the collection team, rather than ‘out’.

Princess Game 5: Princess Relay Race

A classic relay race with a royal princess twist! Relay races add a fun energy and a touch of competitiveness that gets kids super engaged!

Divide kids into teams and have them pass a magical baton (like a toy wand or tiara) from teammate to teammate until the whole group has completed the course! The fastest team to complete the course wins.

To avoid a win/lose aspect, you can assign each finishing team a royal gem (like a sticker or small prize), largest to smallest, to show some level of winning but keep the energy fun.

To make the relay races even more fun, give them a challenge for how to get from start to finish. Instead of running, have the kids gallop like unicorns, walk backwards, or slither on the floor like a princess under a magical spell.

Princess Game 6: Dodge the Magic Spell!

This game is similar to “Musical Bumps.” While music plays, children dance around doing all sorts of magical movements!

When the music stops, they must drop to the floor as if dodging an incoming magic spell!

You can narrate different fairytale scenarios for excitement! This is a great game to get the children to burn up a bit of energy.

Princess Game 7: Lost in the Castle! (Four Corners)

A royal version of “Four Corners”! Label four corners of the room as different locations in a magical palace (e.g., Ballroom, Royal Garden, Enchanted Library, Princess Balcony). You can take the children on a quick tour to familiarize them with the castle layout!

Children dance around, and when the caller shouts, “Four Corners!” they must run to one of the four areas.

The caller, with eyes closed, spins around and points to a corner. Whoever is in that corner is out. To make it more fun though, rather than being ‘out’, they can be sent “to princess training school”, and the eliminated players pretend to ride off on their horses to princess schoolrooms!

The winners of the game are those princesses who manage to evade the chosen corner for each round!

Princess Game 8: Princess Parade

This is a very fun and creative game that will get lots of giggles from the players. It’s based on a Victorian high society ball where the young princesses are introduced and take a tour of the room for everyone to watch.

Get the kids lined up and have them parade around the room as if entering a ball. The narrator can call the characters the kids play, either individual if you know the kids would love the theatrics, or as a group if there are any quiet kids present.

The narrator can say “and now from candy floss land we have the floating fairies” (kids have to float around the room), “and following them, from the land of the dragons, we have the dragon fighting princesses” (kids would pretend to swipe swords and walk stealthily).

For extra fun you can interview the princess, “Ah dragon fighting princess, how did you travel here today? What is the biggest dragon you’ve ever fought? what some are you most looking forward to dancing to at this ball?”

Make up some extra silly categories for the biggest giggles!

Princess Game 9: Sleeping Beauties

This is a perfect game to get all the kids giggling! It’s a princess-themed twist based on the classic game “Sleeping Lions.”

Pretend the caller is a royal storyteller and they have heard some strange sounds coming from the sleeping beauties in the enchanted castle! They want to find out who has been making noises and disturbing the peace!

Children pretend to be sleeping in the royal palace, lying still on the floor. One child plays the Royal Guard and walks around, trying to spot any movement. If a “princess” moves or giggles, they’re out!

However, when the Royal Guard’s back is turned, players can quietly make funny noises to confuse them! Kids will usually get more and more giggly as the caller gets more and more pretend frustrated, and as the magical sounds get wilder!
